Metro Manila: A Night Out for Every Kind of Barkada

Ready for the weekend?
by | October 11, 2016

What’s your barkada’s idea of fun? Whether it’s clubbing, pigging out, going to gigs or anything in between—Metro Manila is wealthy with spots for you and your friends’ kind of night out. And it doesn’t have to be the same place every Friday night (because we all know how dull that can get). You just need to know where to look and where else to go.

Here are awesome nights just waiting to happen. Go unwind and have your sort of good time.

For a Food Adventure: The Yard
83 Xavierville Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City | Facebook | Website

Food parks are popping up left and right (not that we’re complaining), but The Yard has managed to stand out. It’s pretty much a food park on steroids with three floors and 30 stalls. No vendor is the same, so just imagine the variety and amount of noms waiting for your bellies.

Going there with your barkada is the best idea, so you can try a bit of everything. Perfect for late-night munchies as well—The Yard is open until 2am!

For Something Hip & New: 20:20 and XX XX
20a – 20b La Fuerza Plaza 1, 2241 Don Chino Roces Avenue, Makati | 20:20 | XX XX

From the creators of Black Market and Finders Keepers come two new, hip night out spots—20:20 bar and XX XX club, which are right next to each other. The former serves modern, sophisticated comfort food that goes great with alcohol. How do Curry Pizza and Manchego-Chorizo Popcorn sound? And when you get in the mood to dance, just hop on over to XX XX.

For Chill Drinking: The Wild Poppy
2F Menakor Bldg, 5666 Don Pedro Street, Poblacion, Makati | Facebook

This al-fresco, pastel-colored resto-bar is probably as chill as Makati can get. The Wild Poppy is comfortable, casual-cool and pretty hard to leave (when it’s time to go home). Enjoy Asian fusion grub with smooth cocktails made by Chef Nicco Santos of Your Local and Hey Handsome.

For a Tequila-Driven Night: A’Toda Madre
Sunette Tower, Durban, Makati | Facebook | Website

Now if tequila is your barkada’s poison of choice, you can’t miss out on A’Toda Madre. This is the country’s only tequila bar, and they serve an impressive selection from all over the world. Let their knowledgeable serves educate you about top quality tequila its different forms. They also serve authentic Mexican dishes as the perfect accompaniment to your shots (or margaritas).

For Live Music: 12 Monkeys
5F Century City Mall, Kalayaan Ave cor Salamanca Street, Poblacion, Makati | Facebook

12 Monkeys hosts a variety of bands and artists. Just keep tabs on their Facebook page for the schedule of performances, and catch a gig you’re interested in. For fans of Parokya ni Edgar and Hale, you’ll be happy to know that Chito Miranda and Champ Lui-Pio are always in the music hall. They’re part owners, so look forward to spotting the two here.

People also come to 12 Monkeys for their delicious food. Just one of their irresistible offers is the Palabok Pizza. The bar won’t disappoint, too.
