After the fireworks and countdown parties, January is a month when the dominantly Catholic nation slips into a period of honoring Santo Niño, or the Child Jesus, through religious observances and flamboyant events. Widely celebrated in the country, it’s hard to miss festivities that venerate the Holy Infant. Celebrations build up in provinces and barrios around the third Sunday of January, the Feast of Santo Niño.
