It's the most wonderful time of the year!
by | December 05, 2017

It’s finally the last month of the year! Give December 2017 your best shot and do activities you normally wouldn’t do any other month. Treat yourself to concerts and art fests, a new wave of December movies, and a cheese buffet! This is the only month you can feel the Christmas month through various gigs and light shows and attend the best year-end parties. Have a great last month of 2017!

The Arts

Catch up on your holiday shopping and drop by BGC Art Mart on December 15-16 and Art in Island’s Art Market on December 16-17. If you want to venture into something other than contemporary art, Decada Collectibles will be holding their collectibles and antique auction on December 9. And since vintage fashion is coming back, you can go to It’s Vintage Pop-Up Shop Launch to purchase ’70s inspired outfits you can keep or you can gift.

The Music

Starting the month is a concert from one of the older Korean bands, CN Blue on December 9. If you don’t have a ticket yet, now’s the time to buy! Also on December 9 is the Coke Studio Live Marawi benefit concert with performances from the Coke Studio artists.

For the fans of Paramore, jam with your fellow fans in Paramore Night: Christmas Special in 12 Monkeys on December 23. Yet-to-be announced artists will be performing Paramore songs all night. The 88Rising Asia Tour featuring Rich Chigga, Higher Brothers, and Joji will be on December 13.

The Movies

Cine Latino 2017: The First Latin American Film Festival will be screening from December 6 to December 10. Admission is free so don’t miss it! The Raya Martin-directed Smaller and Smaller Circles based on the book of the same name by F.H. Batacan will be in theaters on December 6. The much-awaited Star Wars: The Last Jedi will also hit the big screens this month on December 15.

For Christmas week, take your whole family out on a treat and binge-watch the Metro Manila Film Festival. You can check out the line up here.

The Food

Indulge your cheese-a-holic side at Galileo Enoteca Deli in Mandaluyong with Cheese Buffet every Wednesday of the month until December 27. You just have to pay PHP650 and you can have all the cheese that you want. Wines are 30% off so don’t miss this chance!

The Bazaars

If you’re planning on rushing those pending holiday gifts, head on to Spectrum Holiday on December 16-17 at Makati. The entrance fee is at PHP150, a small price to pay for the great finds you’ll get! The last of the Trendsetter’s Bazaar this year will also be happening at Eton Centris on December 9-10, Metrotent on December 10-12, and SMX Convention Center on December 21-23.

Celebrate Christmas

Get into the Christmas mood and visit the multiple dazzling light shows and displays in the metro: Ayala Triangle Festival of Lights, Nuvali Magical Field of Lights, Estancia Vast Imaginarium, and Newport Mall’s Lumina to name a few.

Christmas parties and concerts are also scattered all across the city starting with HARK!, a concert presented by Stages Sessions which will feature various OPM artists. Purchase your tickets at Ticketnet to get a free “Pintig ng Pasko” album. Gabi na Naman Productions will be hosting the Gabi na Naman Christmas Party featuring performances from Autotelic, The Ransom Collective, and Taken by Cars.

For a more classic experience, catch A Christmas Carol: The Musical at BGC Amphitheatre. It’s a musical theater performance which will have thirteen show dates from December 7-27.

Year-End Parties

End this year with a bang at The Philippine Arena Countdown, a two-night concert from December 30-31 featuring performances from OPM artists, amusement parks, rides, bazaars, and a magnificent fireworks display.

If a small party’s more your style, check out Sulo Riviera’s Countdown Celebration complete with flowing cocktails, pasta station, and comedy entertainment!

For an even more posh party, Resorts World Manila will also be having their countdown: The Grand Countdown to 2018 with the tagline “Experience the Fantasy.”  The attire is “dress to impress” so bring out your lavish dresses and welcome 2018 in style!
