Weave through rows of old streets and into the still operating 19th-century railway and instantly feel time transporting you back in time. Shifen Old Street definitely brings such throwback sense. A pleasant feeling rings out at every corner of Shifen where you can also release a sky lantern up to the sky after you write down your wishes on it — truly a wonderful experience that also dishes out a more hopeful outlook of the future.

A few hundred meters away is the 66-foot Shifen Waterfall which cascades on the upper tier of the Keelung River.
