5. Get an on-boat Thai massage

Who doesn’t love a good foot massage? But what’s even better is getting one while cruising along the river on a hatthatara, a traditional wooden boat, while watching the sunset.

6. Take a historic train ride

Kanchanburi is home to the famous “Bridge on the River Kwai”—part of the historic Burma-Siam railway made famous by the epic World War II film of the same name. From here, you can board a train and get a view of stunning railway curves over the cliffs.

7. Hop on a bike

Many areas in Thailand are bike-friendly, with guided cycling tours offered in bigger cities. However, nothing beats just hopping on a bike and exploring on your own. Homestays in Amphawa have vintage bicycles you can borrow or rent for a small fee. Visit temples, stupas, markets or just soak in the local life on two wheels.

8. Relax at a jungle spa

At River Kwai Village Hotel, a luxurious jungle resort in Kanchanaburi, you can take a canoe ride along the Kwai Noi River to Rock Valley Spa and Fish Spa. Get a full body mud scrub, mud facial or soak in any of 15 herbal pools scented with everything from coffee to eucalyptus tea! Check out the different spa packages here.
