Weekend 1: Lakawon Beach Resort, Negros Occidental

Go on a romantic getaway at the secluded Lakawon, a banana-shaped island located at Negros Occidental.

This lovely island is a perfect mix of calmness and adventure, and its resort features a slew of water activities such as snorkeling and jet skiing, and beach sports like beach volleyball and football. Tent spaces and nipa huts are scattered all over the place, and there are swings, too!

Sounds exciting? Wait ‘til you see the Tawhai Floating Bar, the largest floating bar in Asia. Get on-board for just PHP 250, and sip your drink while watching the calming blue sea below.

Weekend 2: Hot Air Balloon Festival, Pampanga

Kick-off Valentine’s week at the annual hot air balloon festival and watch the colorful giants fly high from sunrise. This will be their last year at the Clark Freeport Zone.

Why don’t you go for a hot air balloon ride with your SO? Make it even more special and get a VIP pass that comes with breakfast, lunch and drinks in an air-conditioned lounge. Not only will you be in for some great scenery, exciting activities are aplenty. You can even fly a kite and/or try paragliding.

We’ve all heard of the Santorini-themed places in the Philippines, but the Sundowners Vacation Villas in Bolinao is still quite off the beaten path, and that’s what makes it a perfect romantic hideout.

Get a villa with a private pool. If you want something less private, go on the big infinity pool also near the villas (maybe also to take some photos for Instagram). Other amenities such as massage beds and sunken lounge chairs fill the place so you can finally have that quiet escape you’ve been craving.

Now why not cap off the month with a thrilling adventure? Try the manta ray dive wing ride, a new craze in Batangas that lets you “fly” underwater just like a real manta ray.

The dive will let you get up close and personal with rock and coral formations up, and also swim with schools of fish beside you. Just remember to hold on to the glider really tight — you’ll be pulled into the dive by a jet ski. Now that’s another adventure to tick off to your couple bucket list!
