This NYC Museum Wants to Teach You Lolcat
The Moving Image Museum is all about Internet cats in August
by Robin Reyes | July 29, 2015
Starting Aug. 7, 2015, The Museum of the Moving Image will run “How Cats Took Over The Internet,” an exhibition that “tells the history of cats online, examining phenomena like Caturday, lolcats, cat videos, celebrity cats, and more to unearth why images and videos of the feline kind have transfixed a generation of web users.”
For the more scholarly and analytical visitor, the exhibition will touch on “concepts like anthropomorphism and the aesthetics of cuteness” as it “takes a critical look at a deceptively frivolous phenomenon.”
Hurry! The exhibition runs only until Jan. 31, 2016.
So, are you going?
