One-Way Traffic Scheme to Ease Heavy Traffic Along SLEX
It’s going to be a long year.

The Muntinlupa local government will implement a new one-way traffic scheme on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) before October 15.
This decision comes at the heels of a consultation meeting last Monday. In attendance were representatives from San Miguel Corporation Tollways (SMC Tollways), EEI, the Muntinlupa local government, and affected businesses and subdivisions.
The one-way traffic scheme will affect the East Service Road of SLEX from Alabang Viaduct to Sucat Interchange, replacing the stop-and-go traffic scheme currently being implemented. Meanwhile, the West Service Road and Baybayin or barangay roads will remain two-way.

Motorists have been struggling through extremely heavy traffic since June due to the construction of the Skyway Extension project. While the project aims to eventually ease the traffic along SLEX, it’s doing the exact opposite right now, and it still seems like a long, long road with the target completion date being December 2020.
In a short statement, SMC Tollways is asking for the motorists’ “patience and understanding for the temporary inconvenience” to make way for “higher levels of safety and convenience on the road.”
