LOOK: This Outdoor Yoga Class is Done Inside Social Distancing Domes

Is this the future of yoga in the new normal?
by | June 23, 2020

This pandemic has caused yoga and gym branches to temporarily close until proper health protocols are implemented. But working out at home is not the same as exercising outdoors or in a gym with your trainer or buddy. In the Philippines, it’s still a problem that’s unsolved but in Toronto, Canada, they’re already rolling out new programs to usher in the new normal.

Lmnts Outdoor Studio in Canada has introduced a solution for yogis who can’t live without stretching and breathing with a class.

Lmnts Outdoor Studio has opened 50 geodesic, private, and clear domes available 7 days a week from June 21 to July 31, 2020. Each dome is 7 ft. tall and 12 ft. wide providing enough room for individuals to stretch in. The inside is heated, thanks to the sun directly above the domes, but the temperatures can be adjusted using cooling fans.

Participants can get inside the dome via a small door that could be left open or could be closed with a film of plastic.

The Studio has partnered with 6 other local studios and their instructors for a series of Hot Yoga & Fitness classes. According to their website, introducing the domes to yoga classes allow the studio to “operate responsibly during COVID-19.” These domes are a great effort in complying with the strict social distancing standards and COVID-19 preventive measures while being able to live life a little bit normally.

The pop-up class will be conducted at the Stanley Barracks located at Hotel X Toronto. Right now, the huge clear domes akin to un-popped bubble wrap await its occupants.

While the local yoga studios in the Philippines aren’t capable of adapting this extravagant method any time soon, they have provided alternatives that will help Filipino yogis at home. YogaHive PH and Bliss Yoga Manila are just some of the studios that offer online yoga classes you might want to sign up for.
