Before the world rang in the New Year, Disney rolled out an announcement that the new theme park inspired by James Cameron’s 2009 Avatar will finally be open to the public in summer 2017.
Pandora: The World of Avatar which will be located at Animal Kingdom of Disney World, Orlando, Florida began construction in 2014. Disney worked hand-in-hand with Cameron to make his imaginary world come alive and give theme park goers a one-of-a-kind immersive experience.
Being surrounded by the wild of Pandora will make you feel as though you really have jumped into the big screen. The most exciting part about the entire theme park so far is how the forest will automatically glow when night falls.
Guests will get to enjoy two themed rides at Pandora: the Na’vi River Journey that takes you on a mesmerizing ride through a bio-luminescent forest; and the Flight of Passage, a 4D attraction that lets you witness the landscapes of Pandora while seemingly riding on an Ikran (bird-like creatures of Pandora).
Aside from the rides, there will also be a food court called the Satu’li Canteen that will feature Na’vi art and cultural items. Windtraders, the theme park’s main gift shop, will sell Avatar toys and collectibles as souvenirs.
