BOOKMARK: Where to Witness Cherry Blossoms in Taiwan This Springtime
Taiwan is visa-free for Pinoys until July 2025.

Did you know there’s a visa-free way for Pinoy travelers to witness cherry blossoms? While Japanese tourist visa applications are on hold for Sakura season in Japan, don’t give up on your dream springtime travel yet. Pinoys can easily book a flight to Taiwan and discover its cherry blossom spots. After all, Taiwan offers visa-free entry for Filipinos until July 2025. Take this as a sign to start planning your spring escapade and add these spots where you can witness cherry blossoms in Taiwan:
1. Wuling Farm
Location: No. 3-1號, Wuling Rd, Heping District, Taichung City, Taiwan
It takes three hours to drive from Taipei to Taichung, but trust that it will all be worth it once you’re greeted by the rows of cherry blossoms. Wuling Farm has 700 hectares to be explored, with over 20,000 cherry blossom trees in the area – take your time and find the perfect photo spot for your photo shoot. You can DIY this day trip to explore at your own pace or book a day tour for an easier commute from Taipei.

2. LOHAS Park
Location: Lohas Park, Lane 61, Kangle St, Neihu District, Taipei City

From late January to early April(best months are february & march), you can see Sakura trees scattered across places in Taiwan! If you’re in Taipei, you can head to Lohas Park in Neihu to see some cherry blossoms! We got there around 9am and it wasn’t too crowded but by the time it was 10:30, it got a bit packed. Don’t worry if you don’t have extra time to explore cities outside Taipei. You can quickly go to LOHAS Park, whose cherry blossoms trees start to bloom as early as January until the first week of March.
3. Yangmingshan National Park
Location: 110024, 4F, No.1, City Hall Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei
If you’re traveling from mid-February to early March, don’t forget to include Yangmingshan National Park in your itinerary. This park has over 11,000 hectares to explore, but you’ll find most of its cherry blossoms around the flower clock area. Yangmingshan is also located in north Beitou, home to hot spring resorts. After going around the park, enjoy a relaxing treat by visiting a nearby hot spring.
4. Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village
Location: No. 45, Jintian Lane, Yuchi Township, Nantou County

If you want the grand cherry blossom experience, we suggest heading to Nantou and exploring Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. This park holds Taiwan’s biggest cherry blossom festival with activities that every type of traveler will enjoy. You can take a stroll around the park to enjoy the trees, watch drum and dance performances, go to markets, and even dress in a kimono.

5. Three Gorges Big Bear Cherry Blossom Forest
Location: Sanxia, New Taipei City, Taiwan

Locals love going to this limited attraction during springtime! Located in New Taipei City, Three Gorges Big Bear Cherry Blossom Forest is home to over 4,000 cherry blossom trees, creating a sea of pink once the flowers are in full bloom. It’s only open from mid-February, so plan your travels accordingly.

6. Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
Location: 100, Taiwan, Taipei City, Zhongzheng District
Here’s a free way to see cherry blossoms in Taipei: if you’re traveling in early February, you can catch blooms around Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. Over 20 Taiwan cherries have been planted on the left side of the walkway from the hall, also known as the Native Cherry Blossom Area. It might get crowded quickly since it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in Taipei, but you can always go earlier.
7. Sun Moon Lake
Location: Yuchi Township, Nantou County, Taiwan
Getting to Sun Moon Lake will take four hours, but ask anyone who has been here, and they’ll tell you that you’d want to spend a couple of days exploring the area. Just imagine the idyllic scene you’ll get when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom with the glistening lake in the background – it will be magical! If you enjoy taking cable car rides, make sure to visit the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway, where you’ll witness cherry blossom trees as well.
8. Cingjing Farm
Location: 5號, No. 186-1, Renhe Rd, Ren’ai Township, Nantou County, Taiwan

Set on the highlands, Cingjing Farm in Nantou City will give you a dreamy postcard-like setting during cherry blossom season. Aside from taking a healing walk around the farm, one of the highlights of going here is the sheep-feeding experience!
9. Baoshanerjituanyinghua Park
Location: 848, Taiwan, Kaohsiung City, Taoyuan District

Did you know that there are direct flights from Manila to Kaohsiung City now? If you plan on exploring southern Taiwan during cherry blossom season, Baoshanerjituanyinghua Park is the place to be. This park is home to thousands of cherry trees that bloom from January to February.
10. Alishan National Forest Recreational Area
Location: 605, Taiwan, Chiayi County, Alishan Township, 59號
While you’re in southern Taiwan already, a 2.5-hour drive from Kaohsiung to Alishan will let you discover more cherry blossom spots. Spanning over 1,400 hectares, the recreational area is home to varieties of cherry blossom trees that bloom from mid-March to April.
