The traditional Danish Christmas meal consists of roast pork, duck or goose, boiled potatoes, red cabbage and gravy, and ris à l’amande (cold rice pudding with whipped cream, vanilla, almonds and hot cherry sauce) or risengrød (hot rice pudding) for dessert. The Danes also have a custom wherein an almond is hidden in a dessert bowl, and the lucky finder of that almond gets a present.
