Like a scene from a movie, the locally known “Door to Hell” in Turkmenistan has been blazing for over four decades, stunning (and frightening) all those who pass it by. This eternal pit of fire came to be back in 1971 when a natural gas field collapsed into an underground cavern, forcing geologists to burn it to avoid the spread of methane gas.
