When thinking of surfing in the Philippines, Baler is one of the best places to learn the sport — it’s the birthplace of surfing in the country, after all. Surfing season in Aurora is from October to March, making it an ideal place to head over for the holidays. If you’re planning to learn surfing and are looking for a place that won’t break the bank, check out Espacio Baler:
Espacio Baler
Nestled just a few minutes away from the famous Sabang Beach, Espacio Baler is a rustic hostel that offers rooms ideal for groups. The quaint hostel has lounging spaces in its lobby: you’ll find a couch with stylish pillows and hammocks where you can hang and wait as you dry off after a day of riding the waves. It also makes a great photo spot, with its rattan décor.
Espacio only has two rooms, Amihan and Habagat, which is perfect if your group is looking for a space that isn’t crowded. The air-conditioned rooms are identical; your group will be sleeping on bunk beds good for four pax. It can accommodate up to five guests, with an additional P700 for bedding.
Showers and comfort rooms are shared in the hostel, but the shower is stylish, with its stone floors and bright interiors.
When you don’t feel like heading to the beach yet, you can cool off and get a tan at the shared pool.
