The two-story, 225,000-square meter facility also features a high-ceiling, column-free departure hall that’s sure to offer passengers an unobstructed view of the new terminal’s interiors, as emphasized by the flood of natural light through petal-shaped skylights. Passengers will also get a view of Runway 2 as they find their way to one of T4’s 21 boarding gates. In the arrival hall, travelers will be greeted by lots of natural light and lush greenery, including a facade containing more than 16,000 plants.
Over 80 retail and dining outlets will serve travelers when Terminal 4 begins its full operations. The new terminal will house a “Heritage Zone,” an area inspired by traditional Peranakan shop houses and culture. Among the shops will be a digital wall made up of a 10 by six-meter LED screen. It will transform into a theater and play Peranakan Love Story, a theatrical performance of a love story set in 1930s Singapore.
