If ever you end up in Iran in one of your trips, make sure to include the ancient ruins of Persepolis. This destination is accessible from Shiraz and a popular addition to itineraries because of its historical significance. Darius I founded it in 518 BC and it was the Achaemenid Empire’s ancient capital. You’ll see remnants of this awe-inspiring palace complex when you see the columns, carvings and statues.
