Camp is the new black.

The idea of camp is hard to define; even Head Curator Andrew Bolton himself can’t seem to define the word in a sense that everyone would understand. For Bolton, “the defining elements of camp are the lists that people keep providing. The endless list is, finally, the definite mark of camp.”

The exhibit will feature works of numerous designers, including noted camp enthusiasts Jeremy Scott, Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier, Rei Kawakubo, to name a few. The Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibit will have around 250 items on display, including sculptures, paintings, and drawings dating from the 17th century to the present which will run from May 9 until September 8.
