Other than the beaches and natural attractions, Lombok has cultural and historical destinations; one of which is Pura Meru. The latter is the second-most important Hindu temple on the island and is the largest.

It finished construction in the 1720s and is dedicated to Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. The meru is also a representation of the mythical Mount Meru, and the sacred peaks of Mount Agung, Mount Bromo and Mount Rinjani.
