Manila Debuts in Forbes’ List as the Next Luxury Destination

The global travel authority says so.

The Philippines has always been known as one of the best island getaways in the world, but the global authority on luxury travel Forbes Travel Guide says it’s also stepping up to be the next luxury destination in Asia, rivaling cities like Macau and Singapore.

This was based on Manila’s big debut in the recent Forbes Travel Guide 2017 Star Awards, with six local hotels garnering 5-star (Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, and Sky Tower at Solaire Resort and Casino) and 4-star ratings (Fairmont Makati, Hyatt City of Dreams Manila, Raffles Makati, and Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila), and two others (Makati Shangri-La Manila, and Pan Pacific Manila) being recommended hotels.

Meeting Forbes’ stringent standards for hospitality and service isn’t the only thing attracting curious luxury travelers, though. Manila is already making a name for itself as a non-stop entertainment hub with its few but illustrious casino-resorts — Resorts World Manila, Solaire, City of Dreams, and soon-to-rise Okada Manila and Resorts World Bayshore — bustling nightlife, world-class theaters, and fine dining, among others.

Manila likewise makes glamorous leisure within reach. Visitors can easily travel to beach destinations just a few hours away, like Laiya in Batangas and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro.

Perhaps after this news, tourists might want to linger around the metropolis a little longer now instead of heading straight to island paradise.
