Looking for new things to do in the metro? If you have a penchant for exploring old places, you’re most likely to head to Intramuros or Escolta, where you’ll find well-preserved buildings and establishments. But there are also other places to visit around the metro, including the MiraNila House & Library in Quezon City. For the next weekend, set a date with your family, friends, or bestie and discover this heritage house:
MiraNila House & Library
Nestled along Mariposa Street in Cubao, the MiraNila House is one of the only two declared heritage houses by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in Metro Manila.
This magnificent art deco house was built in 1929 and features architecture inspired by houses in Florence, Italy. It is owned and designed by Philippine Women’s University co-founder Francisca Tirona-Benitez and constitutionalist Conrado Benitez.
The mansion has four floors, including a tower that serves as a vantage point for the estate and nearby establishments.
Bookworms will find delight in the cozy library on the second floor. Check out the cabinet filled with books collected by the family over the years. Paintings and the family’s former study desks are also found in the room.
Events and Dining
MiraNila also makes an ideal events place. There’s an expansive garden for outdoor activities and a pavilion, Gallery MiraNila by The Blue Leaf, which serves as the main place for events. The 315 sqm hall can accommodate up to 200 guests.
For couples tying the knot, the Benitez family also constructed a chapel inside the estate.
With the charm of its garden and amenities, MiraNila is a perfect setting for memorable occasions.
Tour Schedule and Price
The MiraNila House & Library is open for tours to the general public every Saturday. You can choose between the 10 AM and 1 PM time slot, with an admission fee of P400 per person. Each tour is approximately 90 minutes long.
