From learning about the city’s history during childhood field trips to taking leisurely strolls along its cobblestone-covered streets to appreciating its centuries-old architecture, Intramuros remains a beautiful place to visit even as an adult. The next time you visit and want to take a break or simply find a new comfort place, we’ve prepared a list of local cafes in Intramuros:
Papa Kape
Location: Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila

First opened as a home cafe in Makati and eventually opened another location inside the walled city. It is unique because the cafe is a 400-year-old water cistern with surrounding greenery. Just imagine hanging out here early in the morning or during golden hour!
Papa Kape’s best-selling drinks are available here, including the Intramuros-exclusive drink, Black Gulaman Americano.

La Cathedral
Location: 636 Cabildo St., Intramuros, Manila

If you’re looking for a romantic cafe that will make you feel like you flew overseas, head over to the rooftop cafe La Cathedral. It won’t be difficult to find as it’s located behind Manila Cathedral Church, hence its name. The best time to visit the cafe is during sunset and at night.
Operating hours: Open daily from 8 AM to 9 PM on Mondays to Thursdays and 8 AM to 10 PM on Fridays to Sundays.

Belfry Café
Location: 1002 Sto. Tomas, Intramuros, Manila
While in the cathedral area, you might as well drop by Belfry Cafe and have a unique coffee experience. This cafe is located inside a bell tower, which will let you dine underneath the church’s seven gigantic bells. These bells aren’t just for decoration, as they’re still used for special occasions.

Cold Treats
Location: Stall 1A, Plaza San Luis Complex, Intramuros, Manila
Nestled beside Casa Manila Museum, Cold Treats is known for its best-selling Cheesecake Mango Shake. You can enjoy a refreshing beverage indoors or head to the courtyard to take photos by the old fountain. After a day of walking around, it’s a great place for respite and appreciating the plaza’s old architecture.

The Royal Café

Heads up, art lovers! If you want to be surrounded by a gallery of paintings by local artists as you enjoy delectable treats and beverages, head over to The Royal Cafe. This small charming cafe changes featured artists, so there’s new artwork to admire with each visit. Who knows, the first or next piece you’ll be displaying at home might be a painting you fall in love with at this cafe.

Cafe Intramuros
Location: Stall 1C, Plaza San Luis Complex, General Luna cor. Real Street, Intramuros, Manila
Continue your cafe hopping experience around San Luis Complex by paying Cafe Intramuros a visit. Some of their specialty drinks include Brown Sugar Milk (PHP 175), Iced Shaken Cuculemon (PHP 165), and Strawberry Rose Milk (PHP 145).
