One Mountain a Month: A 2018 Bucket List

There's more to conquer.
by | May 11, 2018

Go easy on the first month of the year with Mt. Romelo of Famy-Siniloan Laguna. Every mountaineer knows this one very well as the go-to for both beginners and seasoned climbers alike.

Commonly known as Mt. Famy, this mountain is known for its many waterfalls: Lanzones, Buruwisan, Sampaloc, Batya-Batya, Old Buruwisan, Sapang Labo, Twin Falls, etc. But the most famous of these would have to be Buruwisan Falls, a waterfall that drops 180 feet and a site known for rappelling activities. You can also swim in the cool catch basin which isn’t too deep. After you’ve had your fill of Buruwisan, you can hit the road and visit the more peaceful Lanzonez falls that’s about 5 minutes away.

How to prepare: Since you can’t visit all the waterfalls in one day, choose which ones you want to go to ahead of time. If you’re planning an overnight stay, there are huts that can be rented for a small fee.

Tours: Since this is a relatively small mountain and the trail is distinguished enough, you can plan for a DIY tour or ask for a guide at the Greenhouse

FEBRUARY: Mt. Pamitinan, Rodriguez, Rizal
