Seco Island, Antique

Often overshadowed by Boracay in the neighboring province of Aklan, Antique’s natural sights remain blissfully preserved under the radar.  Named after the local term for “elbow” because of its shape, Seco Island is a kilometer and a half of paradise with fine white sand and beautiful beach within a Marine Protected Area.

Getting here requires a three-hour long boat ride from the town of Tibiao departing shortly past midnight.

As a relatively new province in Eastern Visayas, Biliran is a rising destination among travel enthusiasts with many beautiful spots  to discover. One of the stunning natural sights is the beach on Sambawan Island ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving.

The island is reachable by a boat ride from the Kawayan town in the mainland of Biliran. Hike up to the top of a hill to get the best view of two sides of the island, including the facing Maripipi Island.

White Island, Camiguin

Located off the shore in the volcanic island province of Camiguin, White Island is a beautiful stretch of beach where you can enjoy swimming and having picnics. Getting here requires taking a small outrigger boat from the main island, which in itself is only reachable by daily flights from Cebu or sea travel from from Cagayan de Oro and Bohol.

Locals say it’s best to visit in the morning as the uninhabited sandbar has no trees or shelter of any kind, causing it to get very hot at around noon.

Sta. Cruz Island, Zamboanga

Greater Santa Cruz Island in Zamboanga is one of the few beaches in the Philippines that is famed for having pink coralline sand. The beach gets its rosy color from crushed red organ pipe corals. This small inhabited island located in the Basilan Strait is just four kilometers south of the downtown area of Zamboanga City.

Getting here requires a 20-minute boat ride on motorized boats from Paseo del Mar.

Beaches in Tawi-Tawi

Tawi-Tawi is the Southernmost province of the Philippines. Because of concerns about the peace and order situation in the surrounding areas, beaches here remain pristine and unspoiled. Take note, that parts of Mindanao are under some countries’ travel advisories due to concerns posed by rebel groups and kidnapping incidents.

Consisting of more than one hundred islands, Tawi-Tawi has its share of beautiful beaches. Island destinations include Panampangan, Sangay-Siapo, Omapuy and Saluag. Near Bongao, the beach in Sandbar Beach Lepa and Restaurant is worth staying at. You can also get a stunning view of the coastline from the top of Bud Bongao Peak.
