This fetching palace near St. Isaac’s Cathedral was a wedding gift for Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, the daughter of Emperor Nicholas I. In the 1880s it became the home of the State Council of Imperial Russia. Fast forward to today, it is now a government building.
