Further west of the Rajasthan capital is the golden city of Jaisalmer; the latter may not have the big city vibe of Jaipur. However, it makes up for it with an authentic atmosphere and distinct houses and buildings made of yellow sandstone that glistens during different times of the day.
The towering fort that watches over the city below is a must-visit destination for those that make it this far into Rajasthan. Jaisalmer Fort has alleys you can get lost in, noteworthy temples and shops that are unique to the region.
