The Danes sure know how to spice up single people — literally. In Denmark, it’s tradition to tie up someone to a lamppost or a chair and douse them with spice if they are single upon turning a certain age. For instance, if you’re still single by the time you turn 25, you’ll be caught up in a cinnamon attack. For those turning 30, it’s pepper. It’s all fun and games until it’s time to wash off the spices off your body and you realize you’ll be walking around for days smelling like your mom’s spice rack.
