Wedding Traditions around the World

Strange, but true.

Hindu weddings are known for being grand and colorful. A night or two before the wedding, the bride and female guests have not a hen party, but a henna party. Henna is used to paint intricate designs on the hands and feet of the women, especially the bride (sometimes the henna even goes halfway up to her knees!). The designs symbolize things like beauty and joy, and the application of henna is believed to help in preventing stress as it cools the body.
