A trip to South Korea is not complete without going café hopping. From quirky themed-cafes to minimalist and aesthetic ones, the country’s café culture is simply hard to miss. If you’re looking for destinations to visit on your trip to South Korea, check out this Insta-worthy cafe by a lake, famous for its photo spot that K-drama fans would enjoy:
Cielo 957
Located in Gokseon, Jeollnam-do (or South Jeollnam Province), Cielo 957 Café has gained popularity among locals and tourists for its unique theme. The café alone is picturesque already, with minimalist interiors and large glass windows provide natural lighting.

Cielo 957 is built by a lake. Tables and chairs are built to face the scenic view, which is one of the best ways to enjoy some good coffee and pastry. You can also sit at the veranda if you want to enjoy the breeze.

But its main attraction is the ‘stairway to heaven’, which is a flight of stairs leading towards the sky. First gen fans of the Hallyu wave have probably seen the classic drama, Stairway to Heaven (2003), which is one of the pioneers of the K-drama world we love today. A local spinoff was also made by GMA Network in 2009, starring Rhian Ramos and Dingdong Dantes.

Get ready to fall in line though as visitors drive to the café to get the perfect photo for the gram. Just within months after opening in April 2019, Cielo 957 already took social media by storm.
The food
Displayed in glass covers, Cielo 957’s selection of pastries are a treat for both the eyes and tummy. They have sweet and savory scones, pancakes, croissant waffles, and more.
