This quiet town in the Nagano prefecture gives you a taste of what Japan had been like hundreds of years ago with adjoining buildings preserved since the Edo period. Highlights of this town are the Kiso Ohashi, a wooden bridge made from Japanese cypress trees illuminated from April to November, the Nakasendo Sugi Namiki, a historical hiking path, and all the traditional ryokan (inns) you can spend the night in.
