On 22 February 2021, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia announced that the province is reopening to local tourists after nearly a year of lockdown. Of course, these visits come with certain requirements.

According to Governor Garcia, she wants to simplify the requirements tourists would need to enter the province. In an executive order issued this week, domestic tourists are no longer required to show a negative COVID-19 test.

In a press conference on 19 February 2021, Garcia said, speaking in mixed English and Cebuano, “We’ll make it simpler. No more RT-PCR tests. No more antigen test. No more rapid test.”

If you want to visit the Cebu province, you need to present only three things: (1) a valid medical certificate; (2) a confirmed ticket for travel via air, land, or sea; and (3) a confirmed booking at a resort or hotel. The resort or hotel must be accredited by the Cebu Provincial Task Force. In addition to the required documents, you must also pass the symptoms check at your point of departure and arrival (e.g. airport).

On 23 February 2021, Cebu officially started accepting domestic tourists.
