Not a lot of people are aware of the hardly-talked-about Sedona, Arizona but it’s one of those out-of-the-ordinary tourist spots any adventurous traveler should consider visiting.

Sedona is a rocky oasis that is known best for its massive red cliffs that glow against the rising and setting sun. Standing atop its rock formations, you’ll feel nothing else but awe at the breathtaking scenery before your eyes.

To beginning and seasoned hikers, though, the landscape is more than a view for postcard-worthy phone snaps — it’s a huge natural playground. Sedona is full of trails to hike through any time of the day. Head to one of the popular hiking spots with a name that will send shivers down the spines of the faint-hearted, the Devil’s Bridge Trail. It’s the largest sandstone arch in the area, but it’s surprisingly not actually as intimidating as it sounds for casual hikers.

Sedona isn’t just for the thrill-seekers, though. Odd as it may sound, Sedona is recognized globally as a spiritual mecca and power spot. Those who seek a peaceful retreat often come here to have their mind, soul, and spirit renewed amidst the quiet setting. Plus, you can also find spas, yoga studios, and more around the area, as well as numerous art galleries that line the streets, gourmet restaurants, and vineyards beyond the rocky landscape.

In the evening, the scenery isn’t any less mesmerizing. Arizona is considered one of the best places in the world to stargaze with the absence of buildings that disrupt the view and clarity of the night sky. Particularly in Sedona, professional astronomers guide visitors to fully appreciate the grandeur of what they’re seeing above them.

There’s so much more to this rugged environment than what you might think, but you have to experience it for yourself first hand to understand why.
