After a series of postponements, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila finally confirmed that Filipinos will soon be granted visa-free entry to Taiwan.
This approval was signed by Taiwanese Premier Lai Cheng-te last September 27 after an inter-agency meeting held on September 25. This effort was made to foster better relations and tourism between Taiwan and the Philippines under the Taiwanese Government’s New Southbound Policy.
Filipinos will be able to stay in Taiwan for a maximum of 14 days visa-free.
The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to decide whether to implement the program in October or November, but one thing’s for sure — everyone will be booking a trip now to Taiwan over the holidays!
