This UNESCO-listed site is the world’s largest freshwater lake and is also one of the clearest. Baikal is a possible day trip from Irkutsk and is a popular spot for both locals and foreigners. It is also rich in various flora and fauna, one of its endemic creatures is the cute Baikal seal. During the summer, you can go swimming in the lake. It then freezes in the below zero temperatures of winter.
